Mr. Smash - ”Still images have the potential to immobilize us. An image can, catch our eye, ensnare our body, possess our imagination and hijack our emotions. This is why I love photography.
I don’t love that videos or movies rarely achieve that same effect on us. I aim to change that, to tell stories people want to see, and stories people didn’t know they wanted to see.
After all, art to me, is expression, with the hope that I'm not alone. If our audience can stay caught in this brief but intense dance between them and their reflection in this mirror of a scene, or come to a realization about the world around them, then I'll have accomplished my goal.
This is what makes filmmaking real art. The disconnect between still images and moving images, or art and film, is both heartbreaking and an opportunity to learn where Hollywood went wrong.”
